You are likely wondering who the heck I am, and what is my connection to Tim McCreight.
The first part is easy to answer, my name is Abby Johnston, publisher and author of two books and illustrator of several more. Having learned from the best, I consider myself a maker in the most basic sense and a purveyor of the creative trades.
The second part of the question I explain this way. I’ve known Tim since the last century. Thinking I was going to create my own illustration major at Maine College of Art in 1996, somehow I wound up in the metalsmithing studio in 1998 and never left. At the time, I had no idea in how many profound ways Tim would influence my life. Journeying from art student to editorial assistant, to studio photographer, publisher and now friend, Tim has been a steadfast thread throughout my entire adult life.
It is my distinct honor to bring this book to life for you.
